Hardeeville Offers "Grinding of the Greens"

Now that Christmas has come and gone, what are you going to do with your Christmas tree? Hardeeville, South Carolina, plans to put them to good use.

There's been a big problem there with trees ending up in ditches. So this year they're doing a "grinding of the greens," letting people bring in their trees to be chipped and used as mulch in the city's new playground behind city hall, and sunk in the fishing pond nearby as well.

"Keep the environment clean, keep our ditches free of debris, and while they're at it help Hardeeville's park," said city spokesman Rob Dewig. "This is open to anybody anywhere. There's no cost, no charge. If you've got a tree and want to do something constructive with it, just bring it by and we'll take care of it from here."

Just drop you tree off behind Hardeeville City Hall by January 8.
