Forecasters: Storms coming to Plains, Gulf Coast

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Forecasters say severe weather is possible in the Southern Plains and across the Deep South over the next few days.

The Storm Prediction Center said Friday there is a marginal risk of severe weather across far southern Oklahoma and northern Texas later Friday, with large hail the main threat.

The bad weather is expected to move into southern Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi on Saturday. Damaging wind and a few tornadoes are possible, with large hail still possible in Texas.

Forecasters said the potential for supercell storms and a few tornadoes may be greatest along the middle Texas Gulf Coast on Saturday. The threat in the lower Mississippi River Valley is expected late Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.

Sunday, weather could be bad from south Louisiana to the North Carolina coast.
