Good news for the United Way and the community. In Beaufort, United Way volunteers announced they reached this year's goal of $2.4 million, a six percent increase over last year. Your donations will help support more than 200 programs through the 40 local agencies and services.
It's support volunteers say is crucial to the community. "That's what a community is all about, making sure we take care of one another," said Alan Ward of the United Way campaign. "It makes me feel complete, like we have a true community."
With the help of the community, United Way added two new agencies to its list this year, Healthy Families America and Beaufort County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Council.
