Golson, Hamilton File Appeals in School Board Recall

Two Savannah-Chatham school board members have appealed the recall process to remove them from the board. Yesterday, board president Hugh Golson and board member DeWayne Hamilton filed papers with Superior Court to fight the recall process.

Another board member, Daniel Frazier, has until next Tuesday to appeal.

District court administrator Daniel DeLoach tells WTOC the cases will not be heard in Chatham County. "It would be obvious to me to keep this out of local politics, to bring in a judge out of the county and unfamiliar with the candidates involved."

DeLoach says a judge could be assigned to the appeal hearings by early next week.

Meanwhile, a petition for DeWayne Hamilton's recall was thrown out this morning, but a new petition was filed this afternoon.
