Shooting is Savannah's First Homicide of 2005

Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police are starting off the new year by investigating their first homicide of the year. It happened around 7 a.m. on New Year's Day on 35th Street near Waters Avenue.

Police say 27 year old Jimmy Leonard Brown was shot once as he was leaving a nearby neighborhood hangout. He was rushed to Memorial Health University, but he had already died. Detectives cordoned off the scene and have been talking to witnesses.
