Elections Board Verifying Recall Petition Signatures

The board of elections has been busy keeping track of petitions to recall Savannah-Chatham school board members. They are still reviewing recall signatures for District 2 board member Daniel Frazier.

Elections chairman Tom Cole says the registrar's office goes through every signature to make sure they are legitimate and they only have five days to do it. "We take those applications, and in cooperation with the registrar's office, we investigate each signature to make sure they are a registered voter and it is valid."

Two other petition drives are still underway. Signatures are being gathered in District 1 for SuSu Cox's recall and in District 3 for the second petition for DeWayne Hamilton. The first was thrown out last week.
