Youth Commission Donates for Tsunami Relief

Around the world, people have donated more than $3 billion to help the victims of the tsunami, but it's not just the adults who are giving generously. This afternoon, the Chatham County Youth Commission presented a $500 check to the Indian Association of Savannah for relief efforts.

They raised the money this weekend at their New Year's party and step exhibition.

Youth commission members say, although it's just a small contribution, they want to do their part to help. "It was very important for us to show not only do we give back to this community, we give back to communities all over the world," said chairman Ashley Jackson. "That's our goal. We want to help the world, not just help what's here. It's good to start here, but that's a goal, that's a major goal for us."

The Chatham County Youth Commission is challenging other local organizations and businesses to also donate to the relief efforts.
