Recycle Christmas trees at Bring One for the Chipper

Bring One for the Chipper! Recycle your Christmas trees at several different locations in the Coastal Empire.

Pembroke, sponsored by The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, The Home Depot, The Davey Tree Expert Company.

Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Liberty County, sponsored by Keep Liberty Beautiful, GA Forestry Commission, Brewer's Christmas Tree Farm and Georgia Power.

Trees can be dropped off From Dec. 26- Jan. 9 at the Liberty County Solid Waste Convenience Centers, Recycling Drop Off Centers, Ft. Stewart Recycle Yard or the designated area at the Liberty County Health Department.

Trees can also be dropped off on Jan. 10 at the Liberty County Health Dept. at 1113 E. Oglethorpe Highway. Tree seedlings and seed packets will be handed out, while supplies last. Trees must be unbound and free of decorations.

Savannah

Bring One for the Chipper will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at various locations. Christmas tree mulch will be used by the City for parks and neighborhood beautification projects throughout Savannah.

The free service is available at the following locations:

· Home Depot, 11180 Abercorn

· Home Depot, 190 Pooler Parkway

· Home Depot, 1901 Victory Drive

· Dean Forest Landfill, 1325 Dean Forest Rd.

· Bacon Park Landfill, Shorty Cooper Rd.

    Memorial Day weekend is in full effect, which means that law enforcement is out in full force. The Department of Natural Resources is also stressing safety throughout the weekend.  Officers say that they'll be cracking down on the usual charges, such as those not wearing seatbelts, or drinking and driving.
