SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and four others injured early on Friday morning.
The shooting occurred at the Allen Apartments on W. 54th Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. Investigators determined the incident resulted from a domestic situation, but investigators continue to gather information. A person of interest has surrendered to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.
Randolph Scott, 28, died at the scene, and two adults and two children were transported to Memorial with non-life threatening wounds: Nylante Santiago, 2; Alex Collins, 8; Watea Smiley, 28; and Marisol Akin, 28. The incident occurred when two male combatants arrived separately, but within a short time span. Shots were reportedly fired during an argument between the two men.
“This is crazy, because you know, the kids do not have really anything to do with it,” said neighbor Bonnie Hart. “They are just innocent with all this stuff going on. I just moved here to Savannah from Reidsville in the country, and I'll take the country over the city any day.”"I came to the door and that is when I saw the girl saying her baby had been shot. So I said ‘let me call the police,'” said neighbor Jarrel West. “Then she said ‘come help me', so when I went to the front door that is when I saw the guy laying on the ground, and he looked like he told his last breath and he was gone, so she was kneeling down on him. She knew he was gone."
