Ceremonial swearing in for Congressman-Elect Earl L. "Buddy" Carter

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Sunday Congress-Elect Earl L."Buddy" Carter hosted a ceremonial swearing in.

WTOC's Sonny Dixon MC'D the event which was held at the Wesley Monumental Methodist Church on Abercorn Street.?

The swearing in was presided over by the Honorable Lisa Godbey Wood, Chief Judge of the United States District Court of the Southern District of Georgia.

The ceremony included remarks from the two most recent First District Congressmen, Jack Kingston and Lindsay Thomas.

"I am greatful for the opportunity the people of the first district gave me to serve. It has been a great service. I will be there for Buddy. What our advice for Buddy is listen to people. If you think you're better than the job, that can get you into trouble. Be humble, come home as much as you can and listen to everybody you can."

Carter will officially be sworn in as the United States Congressman for the 114th Congress on January 6, 2015, in a ceremony on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
