ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say three tornadoes in south Georgia were responsible for damage to homes, a small barn and a church, where Sunday morning worshippers took cover under their pews.

The National Weather Service said the first of the Sunday tornadoes was very brief, damaging a small barn building near Omega in Tift County.

The second tornado struck a church near Brookfield, where authorities said church members took cover beneath pews as winds howled.

Authorities said the church's heavy front door was torn apart, its roof was heavily damaged and two church storage sheds were destroyed.

They said the main damage came when the steeple fell to the ground.

No injuries were reported at the church.

Another tornado struck Sunday afternoon near Alma, where two mobile homes were destroyed and two people were injured.
