A/C Units Stolen

A Savannah homeowner thought her air conditioning wasn't working. She was surprised to discover it had actually been stolen. It happened this weekend to Laine Lanier and at least two of her neighbors at Windsor Crossing Condominiums.

"The wires were cut through," said Lanier. "I don't know what else they cut. They tried to pull the circuit breaker out."

Lanier said she knew something wasn't right when she tried to turn on the air conditioning Saturday night. "When I couldn't get it to work inside," she explained, "I came around the corner and all I found was a concrete slab."

Someone made off with her full-size air conditioning unit. Several of her neighbors' units were missing as well. Laine immediately called police, hoping someone would find the culprits.

"I was thinking, please Lord, let them be out there," she said. "I thought maybe they dropped them." Now, she still has no air conditioning and no answers.

"I don't understand why people would do this," added Lanier. "I'm not going to have any way to get a new unit."

Lanier believes the units were taken sometime after 5:30 p.m. on Friday night. If you have any information about what happened, call police.
