An eight hour standoff in McIntosh County, Georgia came to an end Saturday night. It started around two o'clock in the afternoon at the Knight's Inn hotel in Townsend, off of Interstate 95.
Police say they got a call from a taxi driver who told them he had just been robbed by a woman with a pistol and that the suspect had gone into a room at the hotel. When police showed up, the woman barricaded herself in the room with a 77 year old she was holding hostage. The SWAT team was brought in; however, when negotiators couldn't talk the suspect out, they sprayed a chemical in the room. After the suspect still wouldn't surrender, they stormed the room.
The hostage was freed. The suspect is now in police custody facing numerous charges.
