A stolen portrait from St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital has been found, thanks to the help of a WTOC viewer.
Last month, someone stole a portrait of Mary Hoyt Paschal from the hospital's Special Care Nursery. It was given to St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital by the late Claudia Paschal. The portrait is of her mother and is part of a larger gift to the hospital nursery. It is valued at nearly $17,000 and hadn't been seen since December 27th.
On Thursday night, a viewer learned the painting was missing from a story on THE News at Eleven. She recognized it as one she had seen in an Effingham County thrift shop, earlier this week. On Friday, she went back to the shop, picked it up and called the hospital. Tonight, the portrait is back in the hospital's custody.
