Months after a house explosion on Whitemarsh Island, the cleanup is finally underway. Investigators say the man who lived there, 25-year-old Quang Tran, doused the house with a flammable liquid which exploded, killing him.
The fire was back in October, but the burned out remains were still an eyesore in the neighborhood.
The county gave Tran's family until March to clean it up, and Monday a backhoe was brought to the house to start clearing the charred rubble.
Lisa Ciarulli, who lives across the street, told us the problem was "mostly the safety issue, glass and nails all over the place, and just a mess and a little bit of a hazard and temptation to the neighborhood kids. I'm glad we'll be taken away."
The demolition and cleanup is expected to take a few days.
