Savannah Tea Party hosts an open forum to discuss transportation bill

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Tea Party hosted a transportation forum at the Coastal Georgia Center to discuss the transportation bill "HB 170."

All elected officials in the state, county & city were invited to attend and also provide their input on the transportation bill.

Tea party leaders say the bill will raise taxes for the entire state, but not everyone will benefit from it.  Leaders were also requesting more details as to where to construction will take place.

"I just think that it's a very, very important issue. Tax increases that will effect every single citizen in the state of Georgia," said Legislative Chairman Jeanne Seaver. "If you're concerned enough with the fact that you think that us down here on the southeast coast should fund all the transportation just for the congestion in Atlanta then you need to come and learn more about that."
