Park Villa Apartments Fire

A late-night fire on Savannah's east side damaged a duplex and injured one person. Savannah firefighters were called to Park Villa apartments about 10:15pm last night where residents reported smoke and flames coming from a duplex in the 1800 block of East 38th Street.

Firefighters arrived to find the left side of the duplex in flames. It only took a few minutes to get the fire under control, but the left side was gutted and the right side sustained heavy smoke and water damage.

One of the residents had to be taken to Memorial Health with burns to his hands. The injured person, along with three other people, are without a home and are being helped the the Red Cross this morning.

Firefighters believe the blaze was accidental.
