CEMA Hurricane Conference underway in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Is your family prepared for a hurricane? If not, Chatham County officials want to make sure you and your family are ready.

It has been a long time since our area has had a hurricane evacuation, but having your family prepared is key.

Officials will hold a workshop Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center that will provide you with everything you need to know to prepare for a hurricane. They'll talk about the planning process, post hurricane, effects of a natural disaster and the Chatham County Disaster Recovery Plan.

The Chatham Emergency Management Agency, CEMA, works year-round to plan this one-day event with the goal of providing the most up-to-date and relevant information that guides our hurricane planning process.

Tuesday's conference is expected to be a packed house with about 400 people. Although the workshop is not open to the public, WTOC will be attending to provide you with everything you need to know.
