13th annual Azalea Run raises CrimeStoppers funds

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Several community residents gathered to participate in the 13th annual Azalea Run happened in Forsyth Park Saturday.

Crimestoppers is the main benefactor if the race. The rewards generated by crimestoppers are used to catch criminals right here in our community. This race included a 5, 10, and 15k which provides something for all skill levels.

"We need to expose the crimestoppers logo as often as possible and this is one way we go about doing that," said Interim Chief Julie Tolbert. "As you know it is sometimes a real challenge to get information as it relates to criminal activity. It is very important and vital to the mission of the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department."

Around 500 people came out raising thousands of dollars in an effort to convince people to come forward and tell the truth about crimes.
