Man turns himself in after dragging officer

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police said the man they were looking for that dragged a officer with his car and almost ran him over Saturday night has turned himself in.

Brandon Christopher Adams, 23, was arrested without incident. He is charged with aggravated assault of a police officer and felony obstruction of an officer.

The Southside Precinct patrol officer had answered a shoplifting call at the store when the manager approached him and identified Adams as a man who had cashed a fake check several months ago. When the officer approached Adams, he lied to the officer about his name, entered the car and sped away while the officer was attempting to turn off the iginition.

The officer was able to free himself from the moving car then had to roll away from it to avoid being struck by the rear wheel. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
