What would you do if your child went missing? Do you have current, clear photos and fingerprints? All week, the City of Savannah is helping parents to do that. And their effort is getting national attention.

This program is different from others because Savannah is one of a few Georgia cities testing the it. The program helps parents learn about child protection and has been so successful here it will be showcased all over the country.

Savannah mom Yasmin Riley has her hands full. "I have three sons, triplets, nine years old."

They're handsome boys who get a lot of attention because the three are always together. In Savannah, the city is paying extra attention to keeping them safe. They are setting an example for the nation with a program called Hand-in-Hand with Children Guiding and Protecting.

At different locations, there are stations set up to have your kids' pictures and fingerprints taken. So if there is ever a time your child is missing, you have the right material for police to help find them.

There are even classes and workshops available.

The program is so successful here, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is using Savannah as an example for the rest of the country to start this program nationwide.

Of course, parents may not realize they are helping to make a name for the city. What they know is they are helping to protect their family.

"Because she's five," said Savannahian Diana Scott of her daughter. "If she is snatched up, oh Lord, I have to keep a close eye on her, a real close eye."

Here are some upcoming opportunities for you to get your kids photographed and fingerprinted:

Thursday, February 10
2pm- 6pm Hitch Village - Wessels Homes

Friday, February 11
2pm-6pm Sandfly Piggly Wiggly @ Skidaway & Ferguson

Saturday, February 12
1pm-5pm Savannah Civic Center
