The 2015 MLB Draft is kind to our area, with six players with a local tie in being selected. Ryan Lawlor is the highest taken, in the 8th round by the Braves.
The former Calvary standup has decided to forgo his senior year at The University of Georgia...where he posted a 5-7 record, with a 3.67 ERA in 14 appearances. He pitches 73 and 2 thirds innings with 84 strikeouts, both team records this year. A total of 37 former Bulldogs have reached the Major Leagues.
Ryan Lawlor-"This is my dream my whole life so I just knew that after my junior year if I had a chance to go in the top ten rounds I was going to do it, and it happened to be by the Braves so that really sealed the deal, I knw this was what I wanted to do so, it's just time that I continue my career and play at the next level."
Lawlor heads out to rookie camp in Lake Buena Vista, Florida tomorrow, and he expects to be assigned to Danville Virginia who plays in the Appalachian League.
