Glennville business recovering after fire

GLENNVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

A Glennville business hit by fire on Thursday got back to work - somewhat - on Friday.

Armstrong Cricket Farm lost one of its buildings and roughly six million crickets in a fire that started Thursday morning. The 1950's building contained too much wood for fire crews to go inside and had to merely contain the fire and protect the rest of the complex.

The cause of the fire is still underdetermined and under investigation.

On Friday, crews salvaged what was left from parts of the building that suffered water damage. They also worked to get computer networks operating again.

Owner Jeff Armstrong said the company had 12 million crickets remaining on site and more at their Louisiana facility. Armstrong's is one of the world's largest suppliers - selling crickets to fish bait companies as well as pet stores, as food for reptiles.

He said they'll clear rubble and hope to have the building replaced early next year.
