Congressman Buddy Carter to speak at transportation safety forum

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Lawmakers are continuing to push for ways to keep folks safer on South Georgia roads.

This comes after more than a dozen people have died on the roads in our area this year, many of them involving tanker trucks.

This Friday, Congressman Buddy Carter, along with other federal, state and local officials, will hold a transportation forum to discuss possible initiatives and to get feedback from the community.

"You know, the federal government has to do their part in making sure funds are available. The state government has to do their part, making sure the police are out there and have everything in place, and thirdly and perhaps most importantly, all of us have to take personal responsibility. We have to make sure we're paying attention and putting phones down and driving,” said Congressman, Buddy Carter, (R) (GA).

The forum will be held Friday at the Savannah Tech auditorium, from 1 p.m. until 2 pm.
