Child grazed by bullet in apparent accidental shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department responded to the scene of a shooting in Clearview Homes in the 400 block of Carolan Street around 7 p.m. Thursday. 

According to police, a shot was fired inside a home. The bullet grazed at 2-year-old boy's head. The child was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be okay.

At this time, the shooting appears to be accidental, according to SCMPD.

"There were several family members inside the home at the time. They are being questioned by detectives at this time. We also have a detective at the hospital with the mother and the child. The child seems to be doing fine, a graze wound to the head,” said Michelle Gavin, SCMPD public information officer. 

Several family members were inside the home when the shooting occurred, those individuals are being interviewed by detectives. 

The incident is under investigation.
