The police merger intergovernmental agreement was on the agenda at Thursday’s City Council meeting.
Both the county and city have agreed upon the basic framework for the deal that was passed, and the merger agreement now goes to the County Commission.
"We will work towards examining data, policing impacts, all of that. So that we come up with an agreement that both think is in the best interest of the public,” said Savannah City Manager Stephanie Cutter.
The next County Commission meeting is Aug. 28th.
