Fort Stewart hosts Women's Equality Day observance

FORT STEWART (WTOC) -

Fort Stewart hosted a Women’s Equality Day observance at Club Stewart Wednesday.

The day commemorates the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote.

"I think it is important everyone stays aware of women's equality no matter how far things have gotten as far as women's suffrage, equality, jobs and pay. If you can do what the males can do, I think every women should be able to do whatever job they want,” said Spc. Anna Denniston, 514th Firefighting Detachment.

Lt. Col. Tia Benning, commander of Fort Stewart’s 63rd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, served as the keynote speaker.
