Police say 2 sons accused of trying to kill their parents

SNELLVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police say two brothers are accused of attempting to kill their parents, beating them both in a suburban Atlanta home.

Gwinnett County police spokesman Sgt. Rich Long says the parents' 22-year-old and 17-year-old sons tried to kill them in their home Saturday morning in Snellville, Georgia. Long says when authorities arrived at the home, the father was found "severely injured and bleeding heavily."

Long says the mother was "seriously" injured. The mother told police that her husband distracted their sons while she called 911 for help.

Officers detected a strong odor of natural gas inside the home when they arrived.

Both sons are being held at the Gwinnett County detention center. It's unclear if the sons have an attorney.
