Alcohol may have played a part in an overnight accident which sent two people to the hospital and shut down part of the Truman Parkway until 3:30am this morning.
Officers tell us, shortly after 1am, a man driving a pickup truck got on the Truman Parkway at Victory Drive, heading south in the northbound lanes. The truck slammed into a Saturn, sending the car down an embankment. The impact broke a wheel off the truck and it began to flip. It came to rest about 500 feet from the car.
An unmarked counter narcotics team car was also on the parkway when the accident happened. That vehicle was hit by a can of paint thrown off by the overturning truck.
The driver of the Saturn and her passenger were taken to Memorial Health with non-life-threatening injuries. None of the CNT officers were injured.
Police arrested the driver of the truck at the scene. Charges of DUI are pending against him.
