Two groups that have rarely seen eye to eye are trying to patch things up. The Beaufort County Council and Board of Education held their first ever joint committee meeting last night.
Over the last couple of years, the two sides have had some vicious public disagreements. Now they're hoping to put the past behind them and work together.
"It's kind of like a judge telling a jury, 'disregard that remark,'" said council member William McBride. "Once something's said, you can't completely disregard it, and hopefully county council members will be a little bit more sensitive to the comments they make."
A couple of the issues are at the top of the committee's list: the budget, technology, land use and keeping open the lines of communication.
