American Legion Post 154 remembers 9/11

TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

The American Legion Post 154 on Tybee Island observed 9/11 with keynote speaker Lieutenant Colonel Mike Squires, Commander of U.S. Army Garrison at Hunter Army Airfield.

"I can think back, I was in Germany doing a training mission, about to fight a fake war on the day 9/11 happened. As I saw those planes on TV, I knew right away that something significant had changed," said Lt. Col. Squires.

Hundreds poured into the American Legion Friday night to listen to Lt. Col. Squires and others, remembering where they were on this day 14 years ago. And what's important to keep in our minds now.

"Remember that we're the United States of America. We are united and nothing, no matter what anyone does, is going to come between us and change us, our way of life, and who we are," said George Walker, vice commander of Legion Post 154.
