BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Rattlesnakes are on the move in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Beaufort County Animal Services posted a picture on its Facebook page of a rattlesnake that was found behind the Publix on Lady’s Island. According to the post, rattlers are more active in the fall because they are finding food before hibernating for the winter.

Residents are urged to watch their steps and keep an eye out for children and pets.
