Catholic Diocese of Savannah to make trip to visit Pope while in U.S.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Pope Francis is making his way to the United States next week, and the Catholic Diocese of Savannah will be greeting him on his trip.

A group from the Diocese will make the trip to Philadelphia to present a banner to him at the World Meeting of Families.

Bishop Gregory Hartmeyer and Bishop Boland will be following the Pope from the beginning at Washington D.C., and said his trip will be a "mission of love".

"He is representing the Apolistic Church, and bringing the message of the gospel to people that need to hear it, to people that want to hear it, and I think he'll have something to say for everyone, regardless of religious affiliation,” said Bishop Hartmeyer, Diocese of Savannah.

The Pope will be in the United States for six days. He will begin in D.C., and also visit New York City and Philadelphia.
