LIBERTY CO., GA (WTOC) - Two top law officers in Liberty County experienced firsthand the effects of the Taser.
The video posted Friday on the Liberty County Sheriff's Office Facebook page shows Sheriff Steve Sikes and Chief Deputy Jon Long being exposed to the X26P Taser by Major Jeff Hein, a long time Taser instructor with the Sheriff's Office. According to the post, the training was conducted in accordance with Taser International standards, which the Sheriff's Office has operated since 2002.
"As the senior law enforcement officer, Sheriff Steve Sikes feels it's important he fully understand the effects of a Taser deployment," the post said. "Sheriff Sikes believes the Taser is a valuable tool for law enforcement, and continues to stand by its proper, lawful usage."
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office training guidelines required a full five second deployment with the darts.
