Brian Foster officially announced his candidacy Tuesday for the Post 2 At-Large seat for City Council of Savannah.
Foster kicked off his campaign at the Charles Morris Center Tuesday afternoon.
Several city officials, including Mayor Edna Jackson, attended the formal announcement.
Foster is the current chairman of the Board of the Savannah Technical College Foundation. He also served as chairman of the Savannah Economic Development Authority.
Tom Bordeaux, the current Post-2 Alderman, has endorsed Foster’s campaign. Bordeaux is not seeking re-election for the post.
Foster said one of his first priorities as alderman would be to address Savannah’s crime issue.
"You can't operate on a hundred officers short. That is just uncalled for. We should have never let that happen. I have a plan to get a hundred officers in here quickly. I think the process that's in place is fine right now, but it's moving too slowly,” said Foster.
Foster is running against Alicia Blakely, Lind G. Taylor,Travis Coles, Joseph J. Steffen Jr. and Clinton Young.
Election Day is Nov 3.
