The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department is investigating a targeted drive-by shooting that happened Friday afternoon on Oglethorpe Avenue.
Metro responded to West Oglethorpe Avenue and Bull Street, just before 5 p.m., after Shotspotter indicated activity in the area. Officers found 23-year-old Kwame Williams suffering a gunshot wound, on Bull and York Lane. He was transported to Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators believe shots were fired from a gray four-door sedan. They are now searching for that vehicle, along with anyone who may have been inside of it.
"Well it's definitely unnerving that it's happening at such a high traffic area, and that's why it's very important that if anybody's seen anything, heard anything, or they think they heard anything, they come forward. Investigators are definitely working very diligently to gather as much information from whatever sources possible,” said SCMPD Public Information Officer, Eunicia Baker.
Metro’s Criminal Investigations Division, Downtown Precinct Patrol officers, command staff and Forensics Units responded to the scene. Savannah Fire and EMS also were present.
