CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - District 2 Alderwoman Mary Osborne was reportedly mugged Thursday evening on her own front porch.
Osborne said around 6 p.m. she noticed two men in her neighborhood who looked suspicious. They approached her and asked to use her phone.
But when she told them no, they pushed her down on her front steps, took her purse, and ran off.
Aside from her knee getting banged up, Osborn is doing okay, but she said she's upset and feels violated that this could happen on her own porch in broad daylight.
But she said this is just a reflection of the distorted culture today.
"It's so different from when I was growing up and when many of us were growing up. We wouldn't dream of doing something like this. And the boldness of these young people to commit a crime like this is unbelievable, but it's true and it happens every day, and I know that. I just happen to be the victim today," said Alderwoman Osborne.
The suspects are described by police as two black males, in their late teens to early 20's.
The first suspect was wearing khaki shorts and a white t-shirt, and grabbed Alderwoman Osborne's purse.
The second suspect is described as heavy set and wearing a blue shirt.
