New pediatric center officially opens in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A new pediatric center is now officially open in mid-town Savannah on Waters Avenue.
The J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center's new pediatric facility is officially open and accepting patients.

At the grand opening ceremony Wednesday, folks got to take a tour of the four exam rooms geared toward kids. It's a center that focuses on providing affordable care for those who are uninsured or underinsured.

J.C. Lewis C.E.O. Aretha Jones says they saw a need in this community and decided this was the perfect location.

"As parents we want to come to more of a communal setting where we get to know the staff and our downtown site is a little larger.  We thought it would be good to bring a small practice to the midtown area for our pediatric population," said Jones.

Jones says the response from the community has been very positive.

"We've gotten great response.  People want to know who we are.  The community has come up and asked us questions and they're used to us providing services for everyone so we just have to really market that this is a pediatric location," she said.
The new center has actually been open since Aug. 3rd but held its official grand opening Wednesday.
Jones said the facility is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to noon.
They offer many services for children, including dental. For more information click here.
