CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - All of I-95 southbound is back open just after the I-16 exit and before the Highway 204 exit, after being closed for hours overnight while crews cleaned up an accident involving three tractor-trailers.
According to GSP, traffic on I-95 southbound started slowing down for construction near mile marker 97 around 10 p.m. Wednesday night when a tractor-trailer driver ran into the back of a mail tractor-trailer, pushing that truck into the back of another tractor-trailer.
The driver of the semi that caused the accident was transported to the hospital with relatively minor injuries. The driver was walking around after the accident, according to GSP.
The cleanup took just over 7 hours overnight. GSP had two lanes closed down but one lane did remain open. All of the lanes reopened to traffic around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
