CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The Rape Crisis Center of Coastal Empire held the first ever "Rally for Reindeer" Thursday.
The event showed support for celebrity runners ahead of the 6th annual race. This year's Savannah Reindeer Run is happening Dec. 19th, and it will be filled with participants dressed in their holiday best.
Each celebrity runner has a goal of raising $4,000 before the race. Proceeds from the run will benefit the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire and support its Prevention Education program.
"The mission of the Rape Crisis Center is to provide resources and advocacy to individuals in our community relative to rape and sexual assault. Our second mission is to provide prevention education to youth and young adults in our community," said Kesha Gibson-Carter, executive director of the Rape Crisis Center.
Registration for the Reindeer Run is $30 through Nov. 30th, $35 from Dec. 1st through 18th, and $40 the day of the race.
