CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department's Violent Crimes Task Force made 41 felony arrests and 49 misdemeanor arrests in a 10-day operation that ended Saturday.
The operation, lasting from Oct. 1st through the 10th, focused on preventing local crime through the removal of offenders, drugs and illegal weapons.
SCMPD partnered with Georgia State Patrol, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the FBI Task Force, the Chatham County District Attorney's Office and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The operation by participating agencies resulted in the following felony arrests:
10 - Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
2 - Theft by Receiving Stolen Firearm
9 - Felony Warrants
2 - Theft by Receiving Stolen Auto
1 - Entering Auto
3 - Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
3 - Possession of Prescription Pills (Dangerous Drugs)
3 - Possession of Cocaine
4 - Fleeing to Elude
2 - Aggravated Assault
1 - Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
1 - Trafficking Cocaine
There also were 49 misdemeanor arrests, 131 traffic citations, 153 field interviews, two stolen vehicle recoveries and 25 firearm seizures.
