SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - USA Today reported that 11 trillion gallons of water fell in the Carolinas during their thousand year flood.
That deluge has a price tag of over a billion dollars, 14 lives lost and miles of interstate disrupted for two weeks. The rainfall was enough to end the drought in California, unfortunately it fell on the wrong coast and all at the same time.
Our friends in the Lowcountry and Midlands have suffered through enormous hardships in the past couple of weeks: hundreds of thousands are boiling water to drink; many areas are still inaccessible; supplies are still being sent in by boat. As always, the American Red Cross has stepped up to help get our friends through the crisis.
And we are asking you to step up to help the Red Cross. Write this down: www.redcross.org/sc. That's the website where you can go to donate so that the 80,000 meals served in the Carolinas can continue to be there for them for as long as they're hungry.
