SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah City Council voted to eliminate tour guide testing and permitting requirements.
Council, repealing portions of a 1978 ordinance requiring tour guides to prove they know their history. Up until now, tour guides had to pass a 100-question test on the city's history, architecture and key figures in order to obtain a license.
New restrictions to walking tours as well, tours are now prohibited at certain times in certain areas including the 400 and 500 blocks of East St. Julian Street and Washington Square Nov. 1st to Feb. 28th from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Then March 1st to Oct. 31st from 9:30 p.m. to 10 a.m.
As well as anywhere south of Liberty Street and east of Lincoln Street from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. year round.
