CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Early Friday, The Student Leadership Program welcomed a brand new class of freshman.
Students and teachers from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System came out to celebrate.
The program is a joint initiative between the school system and Gulfstream. Program heads say they look forward to helping groom the next set of leaders.
"It's about growing the leaders and for eight years we have introduced students who may not be the student government president, who may not be the future business leader of America, but they encourage them to take that step," said SCCPSS Superintendent Thomas Lockamy.
The Student Leadership Program serves all four grade levels for high schools in Chatham County.
And WTOC's Dawn Baker spoke at the kickoff event this morning.
