The fate of a Liberty County man is now in the hands of a jury. Keenan Stokes is on trial in Hinesville, accused of killing Mike Norby two years ago in a bank parking lot in Midway.
Investigators say stokes was part of an armed robbery ring that thought Norby had cash from a night deposit. The other defendants testified Stokes shot Norby.
In closing arguments, attorneys debated whether Stokes did pull the trigger.
"Other than the crime took place, that's the only thing in the state's basket, the only thing they've proved," said defense attorney John Pirkle.
"Mr. Stokes was killing a witness and he killed him without saying a word," assistant DA Lewis Groover told the jury. "He wasn't trying to rob him by shooting him, he was shutting him up forever."
Prosecutors will ask for the death penalty if Stokes is convicted.
