SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Fountain at Forsyth Park is rocking a new color.
Folks, along with the SAFE Shelter, headed out to dye it purple for the first time ever in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
The color change is sponsored by Three Oaks Realty and Bellamy Murphy Art.
Also on display, SAFE Shelter's Silent Witness Exhibit. It consists of 12 life-sized silhouettes representing the last 11 people murdered because of domestic violence in Chatham County since 2011, along with one single silhouette for future victims.
"Right now, we're talking about domestic violence a lot because it's October. We need to keep talking about it the other 11 months of the year and not just right now. And everybody needs to talk about it, and I think the more we talk and the louder our voices get, then hopefully, maybe the less of a secret it's going to be," said SAFE Shelter Executive Director Cheryl Branch.
The Silent Witness Exhibit is now on display at the Tybee Island City Hall building.
