BRYAN CO., GA (WTOC) - A very special ceremony was held at Bryan County Fire Station number 4 Tuesday night to honor one of its founding members.
J.C. Tucker just turned 90 years old, and he's still one of the station's hardest working volunteer firefighters. Tucker was surprised with a well-deserved Golden Axe for his longtime commitment by his co-workers, family and friends.
"I go to fires. Now I don't go in the buildings anymore, but I spray the water," said Tucker. "When you get it in your blood, it's like you don't forget it. We've had two structure fires this week and I've been to both of them, 3 o'clock in the morning."
Tucker recently celebrated a birthday, so along with the Golden Axe, he was presented a birthday cake, ice cream and some well wishes from his loved ones.
