Myers Middle School students create 'Micro Society'

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Students at Myers Middle School have been taking part in "Micro Society," where they have created their own bustling metropolis inside school walls.

While creating their city, which is called "Swamp-trop-olis," they are learning life lessons, such as creating resumes, balancing a checkbook, and writing business plans.

Myers' principal says the program has been a resounding success.

"So, it's actually things that we do every day in a real city that they are incorporating into school," said Ericka Washington, Principal, Myers Middle School.

Wednesday was Citizenship Day, where they all gathered after elections of mayor and deputy mayor.

Tybee Island Mayor Jason Buelterman was a guest speaker.
