SSU students deploy current drifters

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Students in Savannah State University's Oceanography program are taking their research to the water.

Students just deployed two surface current drifters, one in the Edisto River and the other in the Coastal Atlantic Ocean.

Those drifters will float in the currents over the next couple of months while the students track their movements every six hours.

Professors say this program will help students gain experience they can use after graduation in the workforce.
