GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) - A Garden City Mayoral candidate debate was held Thursday night.
Don Bethune, Scott George and Reverend Gary Monroe went to the Garden City Gym to discuss the area's biggest issues and take questions from the audience.
Thursday's event, hosted by the Garden City Homestead Association, was free and open to all residents.
When asked about the city's biggest problem, each candidate had a different answer.
"We have so many needs as residents of Garden City and we don't have the resources to address all of the concerns," said Don Bethune.
"I could say that revenue deficiency is our largest problem, and that's from an internal perspective. Garden City is revenue deficient," said Rev. Gary Monroe.
"I believe complicity here in Garden City has become one of our largest problems. Like tonight, you look around, we've got 8,700 people in the town here and we've got 24 people that were here for this debate tonight," said Scott George.
All three candidates vying to take over the current position held by Mayor Tennyson Holder. Holder has served on City Council since 1992 and has been mayor since 2009.
